It’s no secret that we all wish we were rich enough to go to Anthropologie and not head directly for the sale rack. Their designs are always so pretty and elegant. I just love all that feminine girlieness! In fact, I do believe I have read quite a few comments from you all wishing you had the means to own a closet full of expensive beauties! Well I say! Enough is enough! I’d like you all to meet:

A few months ago, My Boy’s sister and I went to Anthropologie and frustratingly salivated for the last time. We decided right then and there that we were going to start saving pocket change and perhaps in four years, we can by some socks! :) But seriously, having this little goal makes going shopping very fun! I like knowing that I will have a future splurge soon! What do you say friends? Will you join me in saving?

i have been doing some freelance writing in addition to my regular full time job and decided that all of the money i make via the freelance work will go into a fund for pretty new furniture for our yet to be found new little home. the hard part will holding myself to it. i imagine there will be a million little things we’ll need to do an it will be tempting to just be practical.
maybe seeing the prettiness you buy with your penny jar money will help me splurge too! :)
Absolutely! In fact, a few months ago my husband took a jar of spare change to the grocery store to one of those machines that counts it for you and he had about $25.00 when he was finished.
What a great way to save money to use for whatever you want!
Our new jar is about 1/4 full right now.
Hi Blaze, I love your new picture on your profile, you’re so pretty! My print I bought from you is hanging right above my computer at home so I can see it all the time. It makes me happy and puts me in an inspirational mood.

I sure SHOULD save with you!
I’d LOVE to save for Anthropologie but I’d feel too guilty about not putting it in my son’s college fund. I’m definitley asking for Anthro Gift Cards for every gift-giving holiday possible though!
Well, it looks like you are well on your way…. good luck to ya!
LOL, I love that shop. But sadly, the clothes I love the most look awful on me. Before shops began opening up in cities all over, I used to mail order their clothes (OMG, that was like 9 years ago!!) and I always had to send them back. Boo hoo. I’ll just have to stick with all the fabulous accessories and home decor!
I agree! That store needs to be within my pocket books reach! (And within reasonable driving distance! LOL ) I Love the idea! Have a great Thursday!
Great idea!!!! I am starting my jar today!
We started using the same savings plan a few years ago, except ours is an enormous jug! We’re saving up for a great vacation!
Good idea, I just want to be their furniture from online! I think I’m going to have to start one too!
hahahaha that’s great! a little change goes a long way!
I think this is one of the best ideas. I am absolutely going to start doing this!
This is an excellent idea! I’m starting my own Antropologie jar :) I just went tonight, actually and drooled over the new summery sweaters and jewelry!
Amen sister! I often spend evenings drooling over the pages of their catalog, weeping softly to myself over such loveliness that will never be mine! I read an article once that says their items are marketed to women with a starting salary of $200K a year…no joke! That is a lot of pennies!
eeep! I love this idea!! :D I used to be so good about saving and stashing my change, but lately I use it all the time for the parking meters at school. :p ick. nothing quite so fun as Anthropologie! but I may just have to make an effort–’cause like you, I’ve never been able to just buy something off the rack (non sale). hehe!
I have to tell you that the change will probably add up quicker than you expect! my parents have been filling a big sun tea jar for years; and its usually full far before we expect it to be. true story: years ago we emptied it out and it amounted to almost enough for mom to buy a piano! (well, second hand, but still…) so you may just get a wee bit more than socks! hehe!
have a lovely Friday, Blaze!!!
thanks for your well wishes!
I think saving up for something is fun too…it gives me a sense of satisfaction, no doubt!
[...] a cute idea for really saving your pennies! I love these stylish, diy shelves the perfect “flea marketing 101” guide! this space is inspiring me with it’s vintage whimsy! allison’s photography is breathtaking! how to clean vintage linens, part 1 and 2 freelance management (specifically for graphic designers, but I think can apply to anyone!) vintage sewing manuals–galore! love the anthro jar
who doesn’t love that store!
I do this with the loonies and twoonies that I stuff in my pockets every day. I “made” $500 in about a year!
