Isn’t it funny how one minute you can feel tired, and apathetic, and uninspired – and within 12 seconds you can become curious, excited, and filled with motivation that propels you towards something new? Goodness… because that is what happened this morning. Just by chance, I stumbled upon Kris Chau and his colorful, fresh work. To me, he is a patchwork made of Hilary Knight and Henry Darger.
Henry Darger is such an interesting artist, full of beautiful color and busy flora. If you do a bit of research for yourself, you’ll find a very interesting and strange story. Both artists are inspiring (though I like Kris’s subject matter much more), and I am itching to get out my paints. Can you see the color similarities between the two?
I do love finding new artists, especially that teach me how to portray something new. I’m looking forward to getting my paints out. ;)

Oh my these are so wonderful!!!! I am feeling inspired as well!
Yippee!
yay for inspiration! And what inspiration they are! :) Can’t wait to see what you’ll do with your paints. :D
The colors are so beautiful and the subject matter in both of their work is absolutely wonderful…just looking at them you can’t help but smile. Kris Chau’s style also reminds me a little bit of Toulouse Lautrec. I just love the artists you feature, they are always enchanting.
You’re so right! Wow, I’m even inspired to create something! These are so beautiful! I agree with Tracey, it reminds me a lot of Toulouse Lautrec!
the color, the color, the color!!!! Thanks for the intro sweet girl.
i’m a big fan of darger
the color is amazing
i’ll have to check out this other artist that you have now introduced me to
Oh, I love how you say the works look like a combination of Hilary Knight and Henry Darger! What a wonderful observation, and so true!
Knight’s illustrations are delightful, and I always took great pleasure in sharing them with my girls when they were young.
The story of Henry Darger is both fascinating and sad, I can get a bit spellbound by his work. The volume of it is staggering.
Thank you for introducing me to the work of Kris Chau!
hi, what a great feature, the artwork is beautiful!

Hi Blaze,

Love,
Roni
Oh these are great! Just discovered your blog – and I’m glad I did!
Oh gosh, now I am all involved in Darger research…. so compelling, from the harsh story to the delicacy of the work…
