I woke up this morning about 45 minutes early, due to the sound of large raindrops on my roof and window… which in my opinion is the best alarm clock. As I write this, I can hear little streams on the street, leaking gutters, and that wet noise that mimics an enthusiastic applause. I want to listen for hours. I feel protected and warm while knowing all the new mother birds are sitting atop their little ones right now – listening to this very rain.
Aren’t these photos pretty? I found them surfing for images that reflect the way the I feel at the moment. I tend to do this a lot when I wake up… I think it’s because I wake up half dreaming, and feel the need to capture it. :) And lastly, all this rain reminds me of Richard Scary’s beautiful illustration of his bunny in the rain. I just love this piece. It gives me that sense of quiet protection that I mentioned above.

I hope you all enjoy the weather today, no matter what it is! Oh yeah, and tomorrow is my last day of school!! I can’t wait! (And Mom, I can’t believe we packed my umbrella!! I knew it!)
How funny, I woke up to the same rain in Manchester this morning (although that happens regularly here!) The illustration of that rabbit is wonderful. I certainly know what you mean about feeling warm and safe when it is raining out. I always spare a thought to the homeless in Manchester and count myself lucky to have a roof over my head.
Stay dry! Maybe you can find a big mushroom to carry around today :)

I grew up with those books, I love that illustration, it’s too cute! It’s been pouring here as well :) I had to go buy a little pink umbrella just to keep myself *mostly* dry on my walk home from work yesterday!

I love the last picture the best! The bunny looks so utterly content under his mushroom umbrella! :) That’s either one VERY big mushroom or VERY small bunny. Either way, too cute! :)

Oh my goodness, I wish your love for rain would wash onto me! We talk about moving to Portland or England, but I dread the rain!!
Blaze, I love to lie in bed and listen to the rain falling on the roof and hear the rain dripping off the roof. I like to look at it too. I like to listen to it as I’m falling asleep. It makes for good sleeping weather.

We woke up to the same WAY over here in PA. Funny thing is, you had an appearance in my dream last night (although, you were Mandy Moore :) !?!?) We were at an Illustrating Convention somewhere and you had lost your credit card…Bizzare, I know but I guess that’s what you get when you’re up late reading your favorite blogs.
